Ugadi Pacchadi


Ugadi is south Indians new year. On that day we prepare pachadi which is  the combination of all 5 tastes with fruits and dry fruits combination. It is like fruit salad. Really a healthy drink. So I often prepare it.

Ingredients:

fruits:  apple, banana, grapes, sapota, pomegranate, pineapple, orange, raw mango, guava,  etc .

            Use as many fruits as you can approx 1/4 cup each fruit.

dry fruits:  cashew, almond, raisins, cherries, dates, kus kus, sesame, dry coconut and other dry fruits each 1-2 tsp.

other:  2 cups grated jaggery, 
            4-8 crushed pepper
             1/4 tsp black salt
            salt
            5 tsp honey
            1- 2 tbsp tamarind extract
            1-3 tsp neem flowers
            water

Procedure:

-except raw mango, peal other fruits and cut into small pieces.
-grate raw mango.
-finely chop dry fruits.
-in a big bowl take fruit pieces, dry fruits and other ingredients and mix well. 
-dont mix pepper, tamarind and jaggery whole quantity at a time. Check the taste and add more .
-add water as per your interest. I prefer semi-solid.
-for better taste keep in the fridge for 1 hr before serving.
-your healthy, tasty fruit salad is ready.

Tips:
-you can substitute sugar for jaggery
-in the season time dry neem flowers and store for further use. if not available skip it. 
-If not available skip raw mango also.
